1.5mL, 2mL, 5mL, 15 mL and 50mL test tubes are made of Plastic #5 (PP – Polypropylene). Find out what to do with uncontaminated test tubes. For contaminated test tubes, work with your Generator Assistant on proper disposal protocol.

The outer plastic packaging is made of Plastic #4 (LDPE).

The tube rack may be made of styrofoam, paper, or plastic:

• Styrofoam racks: Plastic #6 (PS – Polystyrene)
• Paper racks: Recyclable in paper recycle bins
• Plastic racks: Plastic #5 (PP) – these racks are autoclavable, reusable, and recyclable
